Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I place an order?

A. Place your order here . We just need a $50 deposit before we send the animal for processing. If ordering a quarter or half body, we’ll need to sell the rest of the body before processing your order.

Q. Are there any additional costs and how much is delivery?

A. The animal goes straight from our paddock to be processed and butchered and all processing, butchering and packaging fees are included in the per kilo price.

We welcome all our customers to collect your pre-ordered meat from the farm at a pre-arranged time. Alternatively, we deliver throughout the Southern Highlands with our Food Authority NSW licensed mobile cool room.

Delivery is $15 for locations within 20km from Moss Vale. For example Berrima, Bowral, Mittagong, Bundanoon, Burrawang, Fitzroy Falls, Penrose.

For Southern Highlands locations further afield (we can go as far north as Picton Rd, east to Robertson, and south to Tallong) there is a delivery fee of $2 per km in addition to the $15 flat fee.

For our city dwelling customers, we welcome you to visit the farm and pickup your meat at a pre-arranged time.

Q. Do you keep a stock of meat available to buy like a butcher?

A. No. All meat is processed on an as ordered basis.
With quarter orders, 4 separate quarter orders (or 2 quarters and 1 half body) must be ordered before we can send the animal for processing. Similarly 2 half bodies must be ordered before the animal can be processed.

Q. Do you know how much a whole, half or quarter of beef or lamb weighs before I order it and how much it will cost?

A. No, unfortunately we can’t say for certain until we process your order and pick up your meat from the butcher and do a final weigh.

But to give you an idea…

  • A whole body of beef weighs between 140 – 160kg and is $14 per kg. So it will cost approximately $1960 – $2240.
  • A half body of beef weighs between 70-80kg and is $14 per kg. So it will cost approximately $980 – $1120.
  • A quarter body of beef weighs between 35-45kg and is $15 per kg. So it will cost approximately $525- $675.
  • A whole lamb weighs between 20 – 25kg is $15 per kg so it will cost approximately $300 – $375.
  • A half lamb weighs between 10 – 12kg and is $15 per kg so it will cost approximately $150 – $180.

Q. How much of each cut of beef will I get in a half body?

A. Each animal is different so the end result does vary. But the following list gives an indication of what you get out of an average HALF BODY. A half body usually lasts a family of 5 about 6-8 months (if chicken and fish are also eaten).

Hindquarter:

  • Topside 5kg

  • Mince and sausages 10-15kg
Q. What cuts of beef will I get in a 10kg pack?

A. Each pack may be slightly different, but the 10kg will be made up of approximately:

  • 500 g chuck steak diced
  • 500g round steak diced
  • 2kg mince
  • 1kg sausages

Q. Can I customise how the cuts will be butchered?

A. For whole and half bodies you can choose how you want your meat to come (diced, roasts, corned, steaks etc.). Unfortunately we can’t customise the cuts for quarter beef orders as the whole animal gets equally divided 4 ways.

Q. Can I buy just one cut of meat, for example a whole rump?

A. No, sorry we only sell by the quarter, half or whole body.

Q. How much freezer space will I need for a half or whole body?

A. You will need a chest or upright freezer or split your order between friends with smaller freezers! Your meat will come packaged in trays and bags in portions of 1kg and each cut will be labelled.

Q. How long does it take between ordering and delivery?

A. It can take up to a few weeks. Once we have your order we book an animal in for processing, then it hangs for 10-14 days before butchering.

Q. Are the cattle fed grain or given any growth enhancers?

A. No, we only sell natural grass-fed beef. They go straight from our paddock to be processed then delivered direct to you.

Q. Where is your farm located?

A. Our farm is located in approximately 10 minutes from Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
